Supplement formats

Every format, from capsule to snack bar.

Hard and delayed-release capsules, stick packs and sachets, protein and powder blends, tablets and chewables, pectin gummies and functional foods. Each format has its own fill range, stability questions and packaging, and a minimum order that fits the category.

Six finished formats: capsules, a stick pack, powder, tablets, gummies, and a bar with a drink

What each format is good at.

Typical ranges below are starting points. The final fill, shell and pack are fixed per product in the written specification.

01

Capsules

The workhorse of supplements: precise dosing, neutral taste and stability that is easy to prove. Delayed-release capsules are designed to hold their content through the stomach, which matters for acid-sensitive ingredients such as live cultures.

Shells
Gelatine or plant-based (HPMC); delayed-release
Typical fill
200–850 mg, depending on capsule size and powder density
Best for
Probiotics, plant extracts, vitamins, minerals, postbiotics
Capsule filling machine bowl
02

Stick packs and sachets

Single-serve powders that consumers stir into water or take directly. Ideal for doses too large for a capsule and for combining a probiotic with fibre. A multi-layer barrier foil keeps moisture out.

Pack
Stick packs from multi-lane lines, sachets
Typical fill
1.5–10 g per stick; larger in sachets
Best for
Probiotic + fibre, electrolytes, collagen, green powders
Stick-pack line dosing powder into sachets
03

Protein and powder blends

Whey, clear whey (for clear, juice-like drinks) and specialty blends in tubs or pouches. Here our purchasing team makes the difference: dairy proteins bought directly from European producers, documented down to each batch.

Pack
Tubs, pouches, sachets
Typical serving
5–40 g
Best for
Sports nutrition, meal support, functional powders
Protein and powder raw materials in bowls
04

Tablets and chewables

Pressed tablets, chewable tablets and melt-in-the-mouth tablets. They fit the most active ingredient into the smallest space at the lowest cost per serving; when biotics are involved, pressure and heat from tablet pressing are part of the stability plan.

Types
Pressed, chewable, melt-in-the-mouth
Typical weight
0.5–1.5 g per tablet
Best for
Vitamins, minerals, spore-formers, postbiotics
05

Gummies

Pectin-based, so they suit vegetarian and vegan lines. Gummy production involves water and cooking temperatures, which is why we pair gummies with robust active ingredients: vitamins, spore-forming strains or a postbiotic.

Base
Pectin (gelatine-free)
Typical piece
2–4 g
Best for
Vitamins, spore-formers, MaestroBiome 01
06

Functional foods

Snack bars and drinks that carry an active ingredient into everyday eating. Baking, pasteurisation and long shelf lives at room temperature rule out most live cultures here, and that is exactly where a postbiotic that tolerates processing fits.

Types
Bars, ready-to-drink, powders to mix
Typical serving
One bar or one bottle
Best for
Protein, fibre, postbiotics
Eating a nut bar on a walk
Capsule size guide

How much fits in one capsule?

Fill weight is the capsule volume multiplied by the tapped density of your powder (how tightly it packs). Light botanical extracts fill less, dense minerals more.

Capsule sizeVolumeFill at density 0.6 g/mlFill at density 0.9 g/ml
000.91 ml~545 mg~820 mg
00.68 ml~410 mg~610 mg
10.50 ml~300 mg~450 mg
20.37 ml~220 mg~330 mg
Nominal volumes of the capsule body for standard hard capsules. Size 0 is the most common choice. Actual fill is confirmed on the pilot batch.
Rule of thumb: if the daily dose needs more than two size-00 capsules, a stick pack or a tablet usually gives the consumer a better experience.

Before you choose

Format questions, answered.

What is the minimum order quantity per format?

Sports nutrition: 500 units per SKU. Probiotics: at least 60,000 capsules or 300,000 stick sachets. MaestroBiome 01 as an ingredient: from 10 kg. Other formats on request.

Do you offer vegan capsules?

Yes. Besides gelatine we fill plant-based capsule shells (HPMC), and our gummies are pectin-based rather than gelatine-based.

Can you put a probiotic into a gummy or a bar?

Not a sensitive live culture: water and heat in production make its declared count very hard to keep. Spore-forming strains or a postbiotic such as MaestroBiome 01 are the reliable route.

Do I get samples before production?

Yes. Every new product goes through a pilot batch and samples for your approval of appearance, fill, taste where relevant, and lab results before the first full production run.

How long does it take to develop a new product?

Typically 8–10 weeks from brief to first commercial production. Repeat orders take 6–8 weeks.
