Flavoured powder shakes usually run on WPC80 Instant. Lean, low-lactose shakes move up to WPI90 Instant. Transparent protein water needs an acid-stable clear whey isolate. Bars, puddings and thick drinks want the casein in milk protein concentrate (MPC), ready-to-drink bases the cleaner milk protein isolate (MPI), and lactose-restricted recipes the lactose-free MPI. All grades ship in 15 or 20 kg bags from 300 kg; the full specification follows after a short review of your project, together with the quotation.

WPC80 Instant
The workhorse for flavoured shakes: instantised with sunflower lecithin, so it wets and disperses in cold water, with the lowest cost per kilogram of protein among the instant grades. Milky in water, creamy in a shake.
Also test: WPI90 Instant if the label needs more protein per serving or less lactose.

The isolate for lean and low-lactose shakes: more protein per serving, less lactose and fat, light in the mouth. The choice when the front of pack says “isolate”.
Also test: WPC80 Instant for a creamier shake at a lower raw-material cost, or a blend of both.

An acid-stable whey protein isolate that stays in solution at low pH, for transparent protein water and juice-style drinks. Standard isolates turn cloudy in this application; a clear grade is made for it.
Also test: WPI90 Instant if the drink may be milky rather than clear.

Casein and whey in the natural milk ratio. The casein binds water and builds body, which is what bars, puddings, yogurts and thick shakes need. Several grades, chosen by protein level and application.
Also test: MPI90 for a drinkable, less viscous base.

Milk protein isolate for ready-to-drink and ready-to-mix bases: high protein, clean dairy taste, casein for a smooth body without the thickness of a concentrate. Suited to UHT and aseptic lines.
Also test: MPC if you want more body, or MPI 84 lactose-free for a lactose-restricted recipe.

Milk protein isolate with the lactose removed, for recipes that carry a lactose-free claim: drinks, puddings, bars and shakes for lactose-restricted consumers. The declared lactose limit is part of the specification.
Also test: WPI90 Instant in its low-lactose grade when the product is a whey shake.

The non-instantised concentrate: the lowest cost per kilogram of whey protein for blends, bakery, nutritional powders and industrial recipes where the powder is mixed into a formulation rather than stirred into a glass.
